Come Hell or High Water:
Broken Heart Vampires Bk.
6
Phoebe is a single mum, a waitress at the dinner and a vampire.  If that’s not enough
she’s nearly the last of her vampire line, one of very few who can control the demons and
cast them back to hell.  Finding out she’s bound to one for the next hundred years is not
the most pleasant way of starting a relationship, although come to think of it the sex was
pretty life changing.  If only Connor wasn’t a demon.  If only her life was safe for her son.
If only she hadn’t been attacked and changed.  One thing is for certain no matter what
happens life is never going to be the same.

Connor Ballad is half demon, something that offers a modicum of protection from those
hunting Phoebe for the talisman.  Not that she appreciates having been bound to a half
demon.  Connor isn’t all demon however; it’s not even the dominant portion of him but
that doesn’t mean that demon isn’t all Phoebe see’s.  Hunted by Lilith and her demons
not to mention the vampires determined to destroy it Connor knows the talisman is the
only way to stop Lilith and Phoebe is the key.  That is if she doesn’t kill him first.

With a story that ranges from the very depths of hell to the absolute middle of nowhere
(read BrokenHeart, O
klahoma) Come Hell or High Water is another fascinating dive
into the lives of the supernatural inhabitants of Broken Heart O
klahoma.

Phoebe is an every woman with all the same worries and concerns that pester all of us
making her really easy to identify with.  Of course added to that she’s got all the worries
and concerns that come with being a vampire but the resilience and self sacrifice
displayed by Phoebe only makes her more likeable.  Her willingness to forgive slights
against her and accept radical changes in her life and lifestyle is admirable.

Connor is a spellbinding hero; you always know when he’s in a bad mood though
woohee the way he gets all dangerous and protective is both scary and beautiful.
Connors determination to stop Lilith and protect Phoebe no matter the cost to himself
will have you glued to
Come Hell or High Water in the hopes that this magnificent hero
will have a Happily Ever After.

Phoebe is drawn to Connor from the start and even after she finds out about his half
demon heritage the sparks fly between them.  The sensuality between them in the
bedroom is inescapable as the entire world fades away around them leaving just perfect
moments of love.

Including visits with all of your Broken Heart favorites
Come Hell or High Water is a
fascinating addition to the Broken Heart Vampire series.  While I often struggle with
books written in the first person due to the detachment I can feel towards other main
characters when you can’t get within their heads Ms. Bardsley has such a grip on the
style that the books hold my attention and even leave me feeling that vital connection
with the hero that many first person stories loose.  While there is enough of the back
story written into
Come Hell or High Water for most folks to catch up and read it as a
standalone why on earth would you want to!  Each and every book in the
Broken Heart
Vampires series
is a gem guaranteed to make you laugh and cry.
