Double Your Pleasure
Helen works in a coffee shop at the bottom of a 40 story building in Manhattan where
each person she serves calls her 'darling' or 'love', but one look at this gorgeous
self-assured man and she's sure he'll call her 'sweet cheeks'. Helen isn't interested, but
there's just something about him. Sure enough when he gets his turn in line his order is
followed by 'sweet cheeks'. She can pick 'em every time. He orders a complicated
coffee and she delights in telling him they are out of caramel, but Jon Blackstone insists
on getting coffee regardless. He tries his charm on the beautiful Helen which she
rejects out of hand. Later that same day another guy comes in. He looks like Jon, and
orders the same coffee, but his name is Jason. He's Jon's twin, and he's determined to
get her into his life.
Jason and Jon are very wealthy, living on the penthouse floor of the building where
Helen works. Jason offers for Helen to come and live in their penthouse if she will do
the laundry, clean the apartment and make one meal a day for him and his brother. The
more Helen thinks about saying yes, the more she thinks of what it would be like to go to
bed with such a handsome man as Jason. Jason and Jon talk one night before Helen
moves in and decide they would try to convince this beautiful woman that it's more than
just being there they want, but they want to make her theirs in every way. Jason and Jon
have a permanent arrangement more in mind for her, and Helen is about to get her
dream with not just one man, but two.
Double Your Pleasure is a short story of two handsome playboys who suddenly notice
the woman of their dreams. Jon always seems to take the women away from Jason, but
not this time. Helen didn't make it easy for Jon and Jason to get her into bed. She's
intelligent, which made for great sparkling dialog, and she takes her time allowing them
to get physically close. This story is enticing with a working woman finding the men of
her dreams who take her away from her dull life and give her a chance to experience life
with them.
This story is short, but I wasn't able to read it in one sitting. It didn't grab my imagination
as much as Fran Lee's other stories. I liked the idea of the two men with Helen, but the
idea that two rich men would take a woman like her into their lives just didn't seem to fit
well in my mind. It was a pleasant story and the sex was definitely hot, but it was a long
time in coming in this book. I was intrigued with the two brothers wanting Helen for their
own, and making love to her alone and together was in it's own way beautiful and
dreamy as well as demanding. I would say that was the Cinderella-like story, minus the
step sisters, Double Your Pleasure was a nice story for a cold winter's day.
