Half Past Dead
Once, Sam was human with a happy future ahead of him.  Then war came and everything
changed.  Not in the way that war normally changes things.  Oh no that would be too easy for
Sam.  He has to have a commanding officer determined to make himself an army of zombies.
Killed and turned against his will Sam somehow manages to reclaim control of his own actions.
Determined to end the life of the man who turned him Sam stalks Broadwell hoping for the
chance to end his enchantment.  Finding the girl next door stalking his prey is totally
unexpected.  So is the fact that Cassandra isn’t horrified by his new undead status.

So Sam’s undead, Cassandra has seen stranger things in her work with the Blades of the Rose
and she knows he’s not evil.  Not in the way that Broadwell, her current target is that’s for sure.
Sure Sam’s a bit thick and she practically has to beat it into his head that she’s not going to
desert him just because he’s the living dead but once they get that sorted out perhaps they can
work together to destroy the Heir of Albion and set Sam’s soul free.

With moments that are literally heart stopping
The Undying Heart is an enjoyable read.  While
I will admit to an initial struggle to get into the story it only lasts until Sam and Cassandra start
interacting and it is, in my opinion, well worth pushing past the first chapter to get to the
enjoyable meat of the story.

Sam isn’t the sharpest tool in the shed and seems incapable of retaining certain information.
For example, Cassandra has to continuously reiterate her lack of disgust in his undead state.
Although it is nice to have a hero with more self confidence issues than the heroine for a
change you defiantly feel sorry for the poor man by the end of
The Undying Heart.
Cassandra is an amazing woman especially considering the time in which the story takes place.
When most women are filling their time with needlepoint and courting Cassandra is saving the
world.  Her easy acceptance of Sam and her giant heart make her a very easy woman to love.

Tension sizzles whenever Cassandra and Sam touch and watching as Sam’s lost sexuality
resurfaces to Cassandra’s benefit and his own amazement brought tears to my eyes.  With
more Heirs of Albion out there and more Blades of the Rose to fight them I will be looking
forward to
Warrior the first full length Blades of the Rose book out in September 2010.

Simon is special forces.  Not the most auspicious job for someone wanting to start a
relationship.  Dr Mariana Daniels is military herself however and Simon finds himself beginning
to hope they can make it work.  That is before the last mission that stole his life from him.  After
a vicious attack by a science experiment gone wrong Simon finds himself alone; his entire team
dead or turned into the enemy.  Now as a civilian contractor it is Simon’s job to destroy those
who have fallen prey to the virus he is lucky enough to have immunity against.  When that job
brings Mariana back into his life Simon knows better than to expect her to forgive his desertion.
When his enemy targets her however Simon will give everything to protect the woman who holds
his heart.

Mari’s heart broke when she realized that Simon wasn’t coming back to her; but now three years
later she believes she is over him.  That is until he stumbles into her clinic, critically injured.
Mari realizes at once that her attraction to him hasn’t waned.  A fact that doesn’t change once
she finds out he isn’t quite human anymore.  Allowing Simon to stay with her isn’t exactly
altruistic, and letting him rock her world is, well, her pleasure; but when the zombie’s Simon is
hunting come for her Mari can only hope that Simon wont once again desert her without a
backwards glance.

If you thought you knew Bianca D’Arc’s work boy are you in for a shock.
Simon Says is totally
different from anything Ms. D’Arc has tried before and is so emotionally enthralling that you’ll
find it impossible to put down.  Set in a modern world where science is key against a backdrop
of verdant woods and a horror so terrifying it will make your heart pound
Simon Says is a
fantastic start to the
Guardians of the Dark series.

Simon is an incredibly alpha male, one of those ‘I am doing what’s best for you whether you like
it or not’ types that drives any sensible woman insane.  While there were a few points that I
wanted to slap Simon upside the head with something heavy, for the most part, this incredible
man defies the odds to become a hero you will hold close to your heart.

Mari is sweet with a heart so open and vulnerable I’m surprised she can function.  Don’t be
fooled though the sweet mushy exterior hides a surprisingly flexible core of steel.  Her ability to
adapt and adjust to situations that most would find completely inconceivable is only matched by
her willingness to forgive and love again making her so easy to like.

The heat that burns between Simon and Mari is an unstoppable force of nature.  Completely
irresistible no matter how exhausted or how unlikely the situation they find themselves in the lust
burns lava hot, melting away the anger and differences between them until only passion
remains.

Jumping head first into a completely new sub genre with a main stream publisher, Bianca D’Arc
is set to storm the world with
Simon Says the first book in her exciting new Guardians of the
Dark series
.  With Once Bitten, Twice Dead due out in March 2010 it’s obvious that Ms. D’Arc
is far from finished with this intriguing new world.
