When Alana is thrown into the cave of an ice dragon and locked in with the egg she is aware
that she is to be the dragonet's first meal; that doesn't stop Lana from comforting the baby
dragon while it is still in its egg. When Tor is born, the beautiful dragonet with its gleaming
diamond eyes and brilliant mirrored scales turns to Lana as his mother and comforter, spurning
the attentions of the northern King who wishes to control him. After finally escaping, Lana and
Tor see the kings’ men trying to capture or kill a strange black dragon and are compelled to
rescue it. Lana is weakened by the use of her gift to heal dragons, however, that doesn't stop
her offering aid to the black stranger. In return he promises to take Lana and Tor to safety in
his country where it is illegal to bring harm to dragons.
Shocked to realize that the 'knight' riding the great northern ice dragon is a woman, she also
possesses the ability to heal dragons with her touch, only women of the royal line can do that.
On top of that, the great silver dragon who carried him on his back to safety is only a baby!
Quickly realizing that Lana is the one woman meant for him and also quite possibly one of the
daughters of Kent who’d been kidnapped during their youth, Roland resolves to keep the brave
woman and valiant dragonet by his side. With war threatening from the north, Roland knows
that it is only a matter of time before he must reveal his shape shifting gift to both his woman
and the dragon child that he has taken to his heart. How will Lana react when she finds that the
dragon she has begun to care for can become the man she is destined to love?
Ms. D'Arc has done it again, creating a perfectly balanced masterpiece of fast paced action and
passion that will make you yearn for a dragon warrior of your own. Roland is a gorgeous
alpha male who is guaranteed to spark dreams and fantasies of passionate encounters while
accepting that he can be taught by the woman he comes to love. Lana is a powerful woman
who has been raised as a slave and despite this horrendous start to life manages to become an
excellent mother to an infant dragon. She is raising him to become a sweet and gentle soul,
despite the fact that he is larger than some of the adult dragons he meets.
Lana does however have self esteem problems that Roland is only to happy to help her
overcome. There is a fantastic scene where all of the large and loving family of dragons, their
knights and the woman they are mated to get together and it is one of the sweetest family
bonding scenes I have ever read. Unlike the other books in Ms. D'Arc's Dragon Knights series
The Ice Dragon doesn't feature ménage’s due to the primal possessiveness displayed by the
dragon half of Roland's nature, however it does have several steamy scenes where Roland and
Lana's love play is witnessed by others, which keeps the heat levels high enough to singe your
fingers. With a whole household of royal black dragon's looking for mates and many nearly
desperate single knights in the lairs I can only hope that Ms. D'Arc keeps writing the Dragon
Knights series for a long time.
