Mika Richards is visiting her Uncle Omar a little early this year. Normally she would
come for Christmas at her mother's house, but she just had to get away from her home
now. Her timing couldn't be worse. Mika's human, like her Father, but her Uncle and
Mother are werewolves. They chose to live outside the pack as her father could not
protect her mother from them. Werewolves are strong and they don't like humans. Mika
is about to learn what its like to be around them during mating season. The males can't
control their sexual appetite, as Mika discovers when a group of randy werewolves gang
up on her. Werewolves shouldn't mate human females. They risk injuring them badly.
Mika fights when she is set upon, and Grady Harris comes to her aid. He's an enforcer,
and despite his low opinion of human women he won't let Mika be hurt. Omar assigns
him to protect Mika, pure torture for him during mating season. Mika is determined to
have sex with the handsome Grady. She knows the score, and Grady has little choice
as he must mark her as his to keep others away, but he refuses to make her his mate.
He was an outcast himself, being part human, and he wants a werewolf woman as his
mate so he can be fully accepted by the pack. Things don't always go as they are
planned and anything can happen during Mating season.
I have a special fondness for Laurann Dohner's books about strong, dominant males.
Mate Set is no different. It's a fantastic story with wonderful characters. I absolutely love
the strong, dominant and demanding Grady who's mind is set on what he thinks is best
for him only to realize that he might be wrong. Mika is just as strong-minded, and just as
determined to keep herself from being hurt.
I like the way Laurann Dohner writes of strong, independent, attractive women who have
a fantastic mind. The battle of wills adds wonderfully to the story. You will find yourself
thinking that Mika is the best thing that could have happened to Grady. I can't get
enough of Laurann Dohners' books.
