One Heart’s Opinion
Despite incriminating signs that handsome, charming Ric may be the burglar preying on
the shopping center, and despite the fact that he's admittedly hiding something, Bonnie
refuses to believe it's possible. She also refuses to accept the optometrist her mother
has her eye on as a possible mate for Bonnie.
Bonnie has a plan to catch and expose the burglar, but it requires her sister's special
skills, and her sister refuses to help...until tragedy strikes, and she reluctantly assents.
But Bonnie's plan is laced with danger...not to mention her concern that, after all, it might
turn out to be Ric they catch in the act.
Bonnie Tyler is the Rubenesque heroine of One Heart’s Opinion. Due to teasing about
her stutter and weight in childhood, she has little confidence and has not moved away
from her parent’s estate (she lives in the carriage house) or from her parent’s influence
(she also works for them). Bonnie’s attitude was understandable on some level, but hard
to empathize with. She’s hampered by her fear of their opinion, which influences how
she perceives and treats Ric, the romantic hero of One Heart’s Opinion, who has his
own childhood demons to fight.
She does finally get some backbone and manages to finally convince her parents that
she doesn’t need to settle for the optometrist who bores her, and that Ric is indeed a
worthy Prince Charming. The cutest part of the story deals with Bonnie and her sister’s
plan to capture the burglar…with a lariat.
