The Spitfire and Her Four Gunslingers
Mike McClure has been running the ranch since her pa died, and she does everything
well. Mike is the kind of woman who straps on her guns and isn't afraid to dress in
pants. In these parts women are supposed to dress in dresses and be feminine, but
that's just not Mike. She's a regular spitfire with a flare about her, and she reads ten
penny novels about gunslingers who tear up the old west with a fast gun. Her favorite
books are about Cayo Sinclair, the quickest draw in the west. Just when she sends her
ranch hands to tend the back part of her ranch a man shows up shot in need of her help.
Its Cayo!
As Cayo becomes Mike's bed ridden patient she realizes she's met a man who was
only written about in her books. Cayo lives up to his name, but as Mike begins to learn
the story of his life and how he came to be a gunslinger with a bullet in his shoulder she
realizes there is more to the man than just a quick draw. Cayo warns her that in the
morning his gang will be on her doorstep and as he can't travel they will be living with her
until they can move on. The problem is that he is being chased by the law and doesn't
want to cause her grief, but as his men come to the ranch they take one look at Mike
and decide they have to have her. They each have a way with a gun and with women
and aren't afraid to share the women they choose to spend time with.
This was almost like an old fashioned western romance, but with hot, demanding sex at
every turn. The men who are suppose to be outlaws each tell their stories which made
me think of them all in a different light. They each were sexy, handsome and had a way
with Mike that would just send butterflies into my stomach as they each took her to bed
and showed her that they couldn't get enough of her. Mike was an unusual woman who
was not only strong and determined to run her own life, which wasn't usual for those
times, but showed that she was perfect for this gang of gunslingers until Cayo decides
he wants to make a life with Mike and have her for himself.
The pages practically turn themselves in this incredibly hot western that will keep you
reading until the last page, and you will be wanting your own private gunslinger. If only
they weren't a work of fiction. These men are passionate and intoxicating to read about.
I wonder if we will ever hear more of the gang in further books by Kelly Conrad? She
sure brought my imagination to life while reading The Spitfire and Her Four
Gunslingers. If you enjoy westerns with strong men who take your breath away, then
you will certainly enjoy this book.
