The Veteran
Determination! Six months ago Roman Grisham lost his leg in combat. What was suppose to
be a routine assignment turned out to be a very dangerous, deadly mission and Roman was
determined to find out why. The deeper Roman dug the more the answers to his questions
seemed to be tied to Germaine Andrews’ past – a past that she unwilling, refused to be forth
coming about. Will Roman be able to get Germaine to open up about her past?
It’s been three years since Germaine Andrews’ world came to a crashing end. One moment all
was well and then in the very next instant she lost her father and she was reluctantly forced to
be associated with a vicious militia group. When she refused to follow their unforgivable orders
she was physically and emotionally scarred for life. Now, three years later her quiet little world
of solitude was about to be blown wide open when a seemly simple military research task with
Roman Grisham became intertwined with her horrific past. Will the pain and heartache from her
haunting past ever end?
Connie Wood’s The Veteran was an emotional tale. Both Germaine and Roman were dealing
with harmful, physically damaging issues from their past. Ms. Wood did a magnificent job of
quickly drawing me in and holding me captivated until the very end. There were instances
where my heart was aching for both Germaine and Roman as they tried to deal with life had
dealt them and others where I was completely caught up in the thrilling suspense of the plot as it
unfold. The romance showcased between the couple was tenderly sweet and told in a vanilla
fashion. Yet, there was no denying the passion that sparked between Germaine and Roman.
Overall, I found The Veteran to be a fascinating book that I took a great pleasure in reading.
Enjoy!
